Facing Phillips Hall on the left side of the building there is a sculpture. This sculpture is named Daedalus and was a gift from the alumni. When I first looked at this sculpture I noticed on the upper right hand side there is a sun and that the man has wings. I feel that this sculpture represents the many paths each student has to take throughout their years at UWEC. I feel that this sculpture shows that one must go many ways in order to succeed in life. After seeing this sculpture and finding out its name I decided to look up Daedalus. I knew I had heard this name before. I learned that Daedalus was a Greek inventor and craftsman. Like this man those who go into the science field are the inventors. They invent cures or find better way to improve our lives and our communities.
