Differences in World Education Systems

When I asked International Exchange student Debora Biasutti what the main difference between the education system in Brazil and the education system in the United States is, her reply surprised me. There are two main differences from the schooling in Brazil when compared to schooling in the United States. The first major difference is that students do not move from class to class, the professors do. The second is that in Brazil students do not take random classes like the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire requires us to do. A typical first semester in Brazil requires all students to take the same classes. As the second semester begins students take classes that are super specific to their major. Schooling in Brazil is not a liberal education like it is at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
